A Weekend to Remember

Coeur d’Alene comes alive with Street Fair and Art on the Green By Jillian Chandler

Street Fair and Art on the Green

Coeur d’Alene truly comes alive during the summer months, with a variety of live outdoor concerts, farmers markets, and a variety of events that bring the entire community together—as well as visitors from near and far.

One such event is the annual Downtown Coeur d’Alene Street Fair, presented by the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association. Each year, more than 250 vendors and artisans line Sherman Avenue, offering the best fine arts and crafts, delicious foods, clothing, and more, for visitors to explore and shop.

Coined as the “Best Arts and Crafts Weekend in the Northwest,” this is a true street fair experience. This year’s event takes place beginning Friday, August 5, and concludes Sunday, August 7. Hours are 10am to 8pm Friday and Saturday, 10am to 5pm Sunday.

Opt to hop on the free shuttle bus to make your way to Art on the Green, held on the campus of North Idaho College. 2022 marks the 54th year of this community arts festival designed to support artists, arts education and community projects. Held over the same three-day weekend, you’ll be treated to a variety of artists, musicians and performers, beer garden, food court, outdoor juried art show and a Children’s Art Garden, where kids of all ages can make their own works of art.

Presented by Citizens’ Council for the Arts, Inc., all proceeds from the all-volunteer festival and food court go to purchase and donate needed art supplies to local schools, and for the live entertainment during the three-day event. An incredible event, you will want to be sure to stop by at least once during the weekend.

And we can’t forget Taste of Coeur d’Alene! Set up right in between the Downtown Coeur d’Alene Street Fair and Art on the Green, you’ll find an eclectic mix of food vendors all in one place, offering incredible menu items sure to fit every taste and budget. It’s the perfect stop when working up an appetite strolling through all of the excitement downtown and NIC. Arts and crafts vendors, live music, beer garden, free children's activities and more round out the fun. (The deadline for Taste of Coeur d’Alene vendor applications has been extended through July 15 for those interested in participating.) Additional details can be found at CdADowntown.com (Downtown Coeur d’Alene Street Fair), PanhandleKiwanis.org (Taste of Coeur d’Alene) and ArtontheGreen.com (Art on the Green).

Stroll, shop, eat, dance … during this weekend of unforgettable summer fun.
